Katalis Spacebar

De Spacebar is an innovative electric utility moped by design studio Katalis from Indonesia.

The design of the Spacebar is inspired by the computer keyboard and the rebellious ‘80s-inspired fashion and styling.

“When we are typing on a computer or laptop, the way we open up space in between texts is by pressing the spacebar,” Katalis says by means of explaining the name of the moped. “Spacebar is able to maneuver through the busy streets of the capital city, to support its rider’s daily commute. Yes, it is small but fierce, like a piece of chili. We designed Spacebar specifically for youngsters who desire agility in their daily activities,”

The moped is foldable like a Honda Motocompo, a “trunk bike” (trabai) from 1981 that was made to fit inside the back of a car and that became a cult-icon among compact bike enthusiasts.

The moped has a powerful 1 200 vatt electric motor for a top speed of 50 km/soat.

The moped has a lithium battery for a driving range of 60 km.

The frame, the swing arm and the wheels of the moped are made of 6061 aluminium. The moped is light weight and easy to carry.

The moped can be customized upon request.
